What I want other club members to know about me:

Hey, I'm Cate, and I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm a reader, a writer, a compulsive time-checker, a dancer, list maker, beach lover, and note writer. I'm a good student, a photographer, baker, and animal lover. I'm Polish, English, Russian, and Scottish. I'm a night owl, a doodler, a milkaholic and an altar server. I'm Catholic, a procrastinator, nap-hater, email-checker, mashed potato lover. I'm not good at yoga but I love meditation. I don't tan, I burn, and I have awful balance. I dislike turtleneck sweaters. I'm a thinker and a ponderer. I dream of traveling the world. And I'm lovin' life.

How I like to spend my time:

I don't know about you, but I love when my hand starts to ache from writing, and when there are little ink marks all over my fingers from where I last rested my pen. I think my writing process is a little different than others though- Rather than creating stories from scratch, I write about the images I see in my mind, and pull the story from them. I suppose that's why I find poetry easier to write than stories; images can only supply so much.

Usually if I have a chunk of free time on my hands, I'll be found reading. And if there's a table nearby, my mug of tea is probably sitting on it, steaming away. My favorite books are those that pull you in from the beginning; those that you hate to put down when dinner's ready or when it's very late and you're exhausted. For me, the author that does this is Shannon Hale. She writes the most beautiful descriptions, and still manages to make you laugh.

Among my other interests are nature photography (I love macro shots), baking, scrapbooking, and playing the piano. I've been fumbling over the keys for 9 months now, and despite my obvious lack of rhythm, I'm learning more quickly than even I expected. =)
